The Exotic
The Exotic Shorthair is a short hair version of a Persian. A man made breed created by mixing both the Persian and American short hair and other such breeds however in the 1960's they were recognised as there own breed. The thick plush coat of an exotic is easy to maintain often being called the lazy mans Persian. Breeders will often use Persians in there breeding programs to keep the lovely plush and thick coat and most exotics will carry the long hair gene this is why Exotic litters will have long hair kittens aswell.
It's in my opinion one of the most magical breeds of cat. They love to love!!! Not an overly active breed, they are great indoor cats. Their calm and inquisitive nature make them great family pets who will get along with almost every member of the house hold including dogs and children. I find them a lot less destructive than most breeds of cats because of there quiet disposition. However they are curious and love a good play. These cats do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. There gentle, quiet and playful nature make them great pets. There also a very sensitive breed of cat. These loyal and adaptable cats are very affectionate and In general have a very soft voice. Requiring little grooming of there thick plush coat, a brush twice a week with a good brush will do just fine. However because of there very special facial features they require their eyes and face cleaned daily. . (NOTE: Every cat just like people are difference not every cat will fit the generalised breed standard description) The Persian |
These are one of the oldest cat breeds. The Persian Breed is like the Exotic in so many ways however they defiantly realise there superiority, exquisite looks and elegance. These cats are warm and affectionate however can be very shy around strangers and people they don't trust. They are great with gentle children and love to be a lap warmer. They are a little less outgoing and inquisitive than the exotic however just as quiet and loving. they are a very laid back cat.
They are defiantly the most removed from a wild cat that you can get. We find our Persians have difficulty even jumping on top of a cat scratcher. They have zero street smart so never let him outside (we wont sell our kittens to indoor outdoor homes) This cats require a large amount of grooming brushing, bath and blow drying every few weeks to keep there lovely coats. However a lot of pet owners will simply shave there Persians (please don't try this at home. Cats have very thin skin unlike a dog and can cut and tear very easy. please find an experienced cat groomer in your area. |
